We know that locking children up not only compounds trauma, it also increases the likelihood they will reoffend as an adolescent or adult – ultimately increasing future crime. That’s why we’re calling on to you listen to the voices of community leaders and experts, and implement the findings of the review into doli incapax which included: Legislating to preserve doli incapax without any changes – a legal principle that protects children under 14 years old from being trapped in the quicksand of the criminal justice system Expanding access to therapeutic pathways that divert children aged 10-13 years old from the criminal justice system.
